Whatever it takes!!!
Both settling in and not going for any #intent nonsense is good news for Australia. Get the feeling they are ok to be 280/4 at days end. Will set them up massively for this game if they get there. I still expect a 320/4 though. :) Think they will go for it when we get Ishant and Umesh with the new ball.

did people expect him to come out and play reverse overhead helicopter scoops from the first ball?

i had faith he could play sensible. its only because he only plays LO on our tv screens we think he's some maniacal batting cowboy. we never get to see him playing in whites
No, but he is a quick scorer in all formats including in FC cricket, and Australia doesn't have a great record when it comes to players reigning in their natural games to suit match conditions, and Maxwell has that issue more than most. Not a totally unreasonable concern to imagine he might get out playing a dumb shot under pressure. No question he has an amazing level of ability as a batsman though and he's been great so far here.

At last I am Glenn Batswell.

Impressive, really impressive. So glad we didn't play Marcus.

Good work Maxwell. He has looked so composed and it is a nice change to see someone batwell at 6.

Good set up by Maxi there. He came down the track to every ball before that in the over, forced Jaddu to try and bowl shorter and then took advantage. Definitely looks like they want to put the foot down now though, at least Maxi. Will be a good 30 mins to watch, if nothing else. I just hope we do not take the new ball immediately.

First half-century at 6 for Australia since Marsh in the Sri Lanka series last August. The last one before that was Voges in the 2015 Ashes. Pretty bad run for that spot. Starc has made 4 50s at number 8 in that period.

edit: Actually one of Starc's 50s was at 9.
