Match would've been over in 2.5 days if not for some excellent cricket by both sides. Reading the articles, I'm not sure how they used the 4 days of play as justification for the pitch. Hopefully it's fake news.

Daemon, if you want to post that something is fake news you need to attach a 45 minute - 1 hour long, ideologically driven YouTube rant which no one will read that "proves" your POV is right

Need to get rid of the arbitrary rule that you can't be LBW if you're hit outside the line of off-stump. Leg before wicket is exactly what the name suggests!

But the rule at present is massively taken advantage of by a number of batsmen, especially the taller batsmen. They play with their legs and survive clear cut leg before the wicket shouts simply because they are keeping their leg outside the line of off-stump! You have a bat, use it. If you miss and the leg is in the way of stumps, you should be on your bike!

I can understand with regards to it not being applicable to leg side but the rule that at impact the ball has to be inside the line of off-stump is a disgrace.

An India related example comes directly to mind.

In the last innings of the 1st Test against England, Ashwin was deliberately playing defensive shots well outside the offstump and the ball was hitting his legs again & again and thus survived several lbws because of the **** rule.

You are already out LBW if struck outside offstump if, in the umpires view, you weren't attempting to play a shot.

To make all struck-outside-off incidents out LBW will severely hinder batsmen's strokeplay and make the game lean heavily in the favor of any bowler who can angle/cut/spin/swing/seam the ball into the batsman.

Whatever it takes!!!
I dont mind the outsidet he line rule on the offstump. I do think fi the batsmen switch their grip and/or stance, they should lose the pitching outside leg privilege. Its as simple as that as otherwise the bowler really has no way to handle such shots esp. when they are played by batsmen with excellent hand-eye co-ordination. At least add more risk to the shot so that there is a fair-er contest.

The lbw rule is an expedient designed to counter a problem of cynical play early in the game's development. It was never intended to be a method of dismissal bcos hitting a bloke on a leg is actually a ****in stupid way to jag a wicket. You wouldn't think of it unless it was to fix a problem the game never envisaged when the rules were first established. The rule requires the umpire to make a predictive judgment and to assist them they were given a set of guidelines to make their decision credible. Otherwise you'd have one bloke giving everything that hit the pad and the other keeping his trigger finger holstered the entire game. One of those guidelines is that a man hit outside the line is given the benefit of a decision that will always be based on probabilities. If you are struck outside the line how can it be said your "leg is before the wicket"? It isn't, so not out. Do we have to change a rule bcos England couldn't get Ashwin out?

If you change any rule because of Ashwin, he will be the first one to easily adapt to the new rule as he is the most intelligent cricketer.

It doesn't feel that long to me tbh. The Blitz and SL/BD test only just ended. I need a few days to catch up on all the work I was slacking on, get some good sleep, recharge and reenergise before the next one.

Y'all need to watch more non-India and non-Australia cricket.

Cover your eyes ! What is that.

Thought the colour of the Dunedin pitch on day 1 was a first for me. This could be also.

These pre-match pitch pics posted a few days before a match always look far worse than what it eventually looks like on game day. I wouldn't be concerned. Those dark spots are just a bit of moisture which will dry out

Virat's pitch selections so far in this series has been as bad as his shot selection.
