Cummins was picked as a like for like replacement for Starc. There are few other bowlers who have played lot more first class cricket and have more wicket to show but non can match or even come close to what Starc could offer. Its a gamble they are taking because there is a chance to win a rare series in India. Don't think they would have sent Cummins or Pattinson for that matter had the scoreline been 2 zip to India

I agree wtih Gob here. You select the best option to win you the series when it is 1-1 and it is such a rare achievement. Lets face it, no matter what the rankings say, if Aussies beat India in India they are the #1 test side in the world for all intents and purposes. Totally worth a gamble that way. But Stoinis over Cartwright or Henriques, both of whom seem to have considerably better batting stats, is ITSTL. Have they decided that the 2 fast strike bowlers + 2 specialist spinners + 1 fast medium bowling all rounder with better bowling fom is THE template for the whole series? I mean, Lehmann could have at the very least passed a message on what would be useful if tracks are like Pune and Bangalore.

I still think it is a lot of switch and bait from the Aussie team mgmt and media. I fully expect Maxwell and Cummins swap in for the Mitches come Thursday.
