3 tests should've been the max.
Agreed. Don't really see the point of having 4 match or 5 match series between countries that are poor away and dominant at home as the series is usually well decided by the 2nd or 3rd Test. And thus the 4th & 5th Tests become redundant/pointless and usually turn out to be big thrashings..

Also a shorter series gives the away team a better chance of having success as they don't have to compete for as long.
For example, last time when India was in England, after 3 Tests it was 1-1, and the series till that point had been quite competitive but after that it was an absolute no-contest ..in the last two Tests.. Similar thing happened with England when they were in India.. it went from good to bad to worse to a total disaster due to the needless extra one-sided Tests..
When India is in Aus or Aus in India..we see similar outcomes.

The more the Tests the better the chance of the home team winning the series, if not absolutely dominating it.. So really to bring back some hope for away teams to win the series, it really should be 3 Tests more often than not.

Glad we've sorted that out. The only team allowed to tour should be SA. The rest can stay at home and play with themselves, which is apt in a lot of cases.

Nah **** that. If you want to be taken seriously, you gotta compete seriously.

<=3 test series is just ludicrous. If you are going to whitewash an opposition then you have to play 5 to get maximum smugness and mirth. If you are not going to whitewash your opposition then you want to play 5 because it is a brilliant series that you want to drag out.

He has a point tbf. I'd rather watch paint dry than WI play 5 in Australia for example.

Hi All
New to the group. Does anyone know anything relating to the Future tour India V Australia ODI's and T20's in October 2017?
Keen to find dates and venues

cheers

Glenn Maxwell came in at No.5 but didn't stay long – he came down the wicket to Steve O'Keefe and was stumped in a tidy bit of work by UAE wicketkeeper Saqlain Haider, who was filling in for Wade. Haider filled in for the Australians in their 2014 tour match in nearby Sharjah against a Pakistani XI, and donned the gloves again today with Wade rested from keeping duties for this match. Wade remains on track to take the gloves in the official tour warm-up match in Mumbai next week, and warmed up with the team before heading to the nets when the match started.
So Wade is net batting but can't be bothered keeping. Cruel to have the spinners practice with an actual keeper when they will have a chair during the actual test matches. It does send out a message about the priorities of his role.

Hope Nev keeps scoring to make the selectors look like morons.

i have a surprisingly good feeling about this for australia touring india
It's funny, because my gut also says that Aus wont disgrace themselves like they have on the sub cont in recent years......but I can't for the life of my think why I'd be thinking that?

India have a bloody strong side right now and are a dead set beast at home, I'd say they are stronger now than the side that whitewashed Aus in '13 and are light years ahead of the Sri Lankan team that embarrassed Aus last year. And on the other side I can't see how or where Australia have made any improvements to combat sub cont conditions??

There really is no reason to think that India wont totally dominate but I think maybe Aus will do well just to make Eng's tour look poorer than it does already.

Australia will especially perform well initially.. I'm almost certain of that. Then India will learn and take it home from there.

Teams come with new plans and enthusiasm and tend to relatively surprise India.. first up.
If one looks at India's recent series', the first test was always close whether against South Africa, NZ or England. But as the series' went on against SA, NZ or England; India began to do well/dominate.

Don't like the direction the pitches going in atm. The pitches have been very docile since Kumble took over and if Aus draw or win, it will all fall on this idiotic approach.
