We certainly have more bowling options than we do batting options at the moment, but it really is our batting that has let us down. The fact is that the bowling decks haven't suited our strengths and we don't have the spinners to exploit the conditions properly. And we've been subtly training our best spinner to bowl pies because tossing it up and finding edges or catching the batsman advancing down the pitch doesn't pick up wickets.

I for one think we should send over O'Keefe as Bird's replacement. With Johnson over there we don't really need another quick.
Sure batting has been disappointing but the bowling has been equally disappointing as well, 380 in Chennai on that sort of pitch was a pretty decent effort, but still allowing India to score 500 plus on that pitch was a pretty dire, it only looks worse when you consider that almost 200 runs were added by Dhoni and #10 and #11.

Its true conditions aren't suitable for fast bowlers but if Pattinson can take 8 wickets at an average 23, then it really shows up the other fast bowlers who are almost averaging 100 with ball.

O'Keefe and Doherty actually have very similar shield stats over the past 3 seasons. Like, within one run of each other.
Stats of every spinner in Australia are freakishly identical which is mainly because of the conditions, but SOK is a far better red ball spinner than Doherty simply because he flights the ball and puts a good amount of revs on it, Doherty on the other hand just puts the ball there and depends totally on the pitch to provide some assistance, SOK also has a FC batting average of 30 which is pretty handy as well.

Lets pick O'Keefe because he puts lots of the revs ob the ball.

While we're at it, I think Watson should be retained because of his excellent conversion rate and Siddle should definitely keep his place due to his extravagant swing. Johnson should be recalled for his strong mental strength, repeatable action and immaculate line.

That's not to say having O'Keefe on tour wouldn't have been a good idea. I was for it from the start, for various reasons. That's just obviously not one of the reasons though.

Seeing how good one day form is now a criteria for selection in the test team

Perhaps they should send for Pomersbach, Finch and McKay

Gavasker is a ****ing joke nowadays. 2 wins against a weak Australian team on home soil and he wants Dhoni to remain captain until 2019. Has he forgotten the recent thrashing abroad?
