Really hard to tell with Sehwag but he looks shot
Interesting. Any reason why you think its harder to tell with someone like a Sehwag, as opposed to a Dravid? Is it the hit and miss nature of Sehwag's game?
I can see where you are coming from, but for me, it is easier to tell with a Sehwag than a Dravid. Everyone thought Dravid was shot in 2007/08, as his technique was failing him and he had no confidence. But he surprised everyone by just coming back to probably as good as he has ever batted in 2011. Same with your Sachin, Kallis etc. who look like they are gone, but their technique can return at any time, and even if their eyes go slightly, their technique is still solid enough to get them through.
For me, it is harder to confirm when a technique based player, such as Dravid, is actually 100% past it and not test standard anymore, compared to Sehwag, who for me, is obviously gone. The reason is because the shots he'd play, and the way he'd play them, is still primarily the same. He is just far later on it, and far slower to adjust to bounce/yorkers etc. Whilst Dravid was the same, when he'd go out you could see that he was doing things completely differently than he did in his prime. Sehwag is doing the same ****, just poorly.
Interesting subject though.
