One feels there are many slow-ponies in this lineup. Paine just can't bat above 80 SR and Clarke is a struggler as regards to run rate as well. One guy who can throttle the rate is Ponting but he is having a bad run. Then there is Hussey who again takes his sweet time before teeing off. So in effect there is only Watson, White and the allrounders who can really take the attack to opposition. Australia has a good bowling attack in my opinion and they always seem to thrive under do or die situations. That is their main strength and of course their fantastic fielding.

Really a bit worrying for the Aussies at the moment with their batting. It is always a problem when it is your untouchable players that aren't performing. I actually think the bowling is looking quite good in the medium term. But what is the solution to the batting? Or rephrased... given that Ponting should come good, and is one of the best fielders in the world, and that the opening position is a known one that they are trying to solve, WTF do you do with Clarke? Can you drop your T20 captain from ODIs?

Real problems are the failure of Watson to regularly convert his starts, Ponting and Clarke's form

Anyway, get some of the regulars back, give some of the kids more experience and we'll be fine

Watson won't convert his starts more whilst he's the only member of the top four who can provide real imputus.

Apart fron your keeper, I didn't think you had any regulars to come back into the batting line-up?
