*Official* Australia in England T20s and ODIs

Hope the Durham groundsman learns how to produce an international quality pitch sometime soon - every wicket I've seen at this ground has favoured the bowlers far too much and produces shortened contests as a result
I'd rather watch a cricket match on a pitch like this over the roads we get 99% of the time. No contest.

Yes, particularly in England where pitches traditionally have had a bit more in them for the seamers. It all adds to the tapestry of cricket. To require that all pitches conform to some dreadful identikit "international standard" whereby 300 is expected to be a par score is to condemn international cricket to tedious formulaic run-fests.

You know, you can harp on about Hilfenhaus being an ordinary one-day cricketer as much as you like, it's not untill people see it with their own eyes that they begin to get it.

I saw him live in a limited overs game at the SCG in 06/07 and was impressed. This is the only limited overs game I've seen him in since then. I really like his bowling generally, and his attitude, but from the evidence of today he looks a Test specialist

Failing to understand how that wasn't out one way or the other.

Edit: Show more replays, FFS. This happened the other game when Hauritz had Shah caught behind but was given not out, we just got the one replay.

Hussey finding form is a fantastic silver lining here.
He's never been out of form in ODI cricket, probably Australia's best batsmen in the last 12-18 months.

edit: last 25 ODIs - 8 50s, 855 runs @ 47.50, SR 88.41

Has been ****house in Tests during this period, but he's always been in good nick in ODIs.

Know those stats well, still wasn't in the greatest form at the start of this series and was tailing off a little towards the end of that run iirc.

Missing leg, he didn't hit it, they didn't attempt a run so it wasn't a run out, he didn't handle the ball and he didn't obstruct the field

Felt it was a decent lbw shout, and we only saw one replay for the catch. I didn't see it live, only the one replay. More annoyed about the lack of coverage than the not out decision now, tbh. Just want to know what happened.

Pakistan used to be this unpredictable. England is the new Pakistan or what?

They are playing pretty good cricket here...

Fair enough mate. They showed it a few times on Sky. Hawkeye had it clipping the outside of leg. Botham also thought that Strauss (not realising it had carried to slip) showed his bat to the umpire, but that was just Botham talking drivel again. The replays didn't suggest he hit it either, but I thought I might have heard a double noise - would be interested to see snicko on that, but they haven't showed it.

England have always been ridiculously inconsistent at ODIs for as long as I can remember: usually crap, but capable of turning it on every now and then. We beat SA 4-0 last year then lost 5-0 to India then beat West Indies 2-0 before going 6-0 down to Australia. And we beat Australia 3-0 in Australia in 06/07. Weird.

Haha, Bopara gone. This could've been interesting with another 20-30 runs on the board.
