but wait - i thought most of sledging is 'friendly banter'. I dont care if i am not good enough to represent my club side- if Lee had dared use such language to me, the next pullshot i play would use Lee's head as a ball.
whoosh, never read the onion or any of its like?

I don't think shot selection is so much down to coaching, look at... well... a hell of a lot of the England team. Flintoff had to learn a lot of shot selection purely from repeated chastening experiences because he's not too bright (some players have a sporting brain that allows them to pick the right option despite being stupid - like Ponting when batting or Rooney in football. Flintoff and Warne have a bowler's brain and instinct in my opinion). Flintoff still lets slogging instinct get the better of him fairly often.

Nafees scores a century against Australia and look competetly at ease aganist Lee pace, but his not good enough to play FC cricket

Haque Jnr is already a better bowler in Cullen and you don't think he up to FC cricket.

Rafique may not be prettiest bowler but he has 7-fer in Test Cricket and a lot of them have been against the top 8 sides, including Australia (in the 1st innings), his diffently good enough to play FC and is Test standard. He would walk into must Australian domestic teams.

Lee hasn't bowled fast at all this game, they dont have a speen gun over there but hes only bowling low-mid 140's.

Put Haque Jnr on Australian pitches and we will see how useful he is?

Rafique is quite a good bowler, not a big turner of the ball. Would walk into Tassie, QLD and maybe WA straight away, SA have Cullen who they are developing, WA have (or has he signed for nsw already) Casson who they are developing - Rafique wouldn't want to play on the WACA anyway) NSW have MacGill and Victoria have Warne.

Yes. The incorrect scorelines should have given it away, even if you thought it was serious to begin with.

I skipped over the scoreline- dont see it anywhere outside of cricinfo really.
But in that case, i guess i understand - though it is still pretty crude and tasteless idea of humour.

Is it really that hard to give the Bangladeshi's credit? 8-)
Got to say, I have heard a lot of talk about this being all down to the Aussies being tired, and that Bangladesh are still a disgrace.

For instance, Ian Smith on Radio Sport here this morning said that Bangladesh should still not be playing test cricket, and that the Australians are basically just playing this series on the plane ride home.

Surely only a fool or the uninformed cannot see that the Bang are getting better.

I am amazed at how difficult it appears.

I also stand corrected in thinking that emotions over-riding logic was more a sub-continental trait. Its just a slight difference in language used and thats not saying much.:)

News flash: it's a joke.

Have you actually read this thread? Pretty much every single Australian fan has been giving Bangladesh huge amounts of credit from the first day on. "Australia are worn out and should have had more than four days off between test series" and "Bangladesh have played better than anyone imagined they could, and deserve credit for being such tough competition" are not contradictory statements.

After all is said and done and this test is over, I think that if BD do not perform well in the next game people will say that this test was a one hit wonder and rightly so.

They'll have to play as hard in the next game but its going to be twice as hard now that Australia are back on track. Only then might critics finally start to lay off their case.

However, if they crumble and burn up in the 2nd test just as many of us were fearing in they would in the first, well then the heroics in the first 2 days of this test isnt really gonna hold any weight.

For me, thats gonna be the real litmus test. They've already let themsleves down in the 2nd innings of this test and its very similar to the BD we all know so if they really want to prove that they actually have progressed and this wasn't just Australia having jet lag and being tired well then they've gotta go out and play well.

I think for now maybe their fans can atleast hope for that.
