**Official** Australia in Bangladesh

Good win. Bangladesh seemed to just not care. There is clearly alot of potential but again the batsmen let the side down. I think the Aussies have a good solution to their bowling problems now with 8 of the 11 bowling. I hope we get to see Cosgrove in the final game and Dorey and Hopes are given the chance to redeem themselves, otherwise along with Katich they will be running out of time.

For the third ODI I would prefer:
Gilly
Cosgrove
Ponting
Clarke
Symonds
Hussey
Hopes
Hogg
Johnson
Bracken
Cullen

*edit* Lee deserves the break.

Why would you take out Katich and put in Hopes?

I have to say Johnson is building a brilliant international career 1 wicket @ 150 for 6 an over.
Did you watch him bowl in the last two games? He's looking a lot better. His economy rate is so high because he got hammered in his first two ODIs, it will continue to go down as he plays more games.

As I said after the last game, he's still very rough around the edges, but he's looking like potentially a very good bowler now, whereas last year he just looked poor. Consider the fact that he's had two plumb lbws turned down in the 13 overs he has bowled this series, and his record doesn't look that bad.

Australia's team in the next ODI should be:

Katich
Gilchrist
Cosgrove
Clarke
Symonds
Hussey
Hogg
Bracken
Cullen
Dorey
Johnson

Cosgrove and Dorey deserve the run, and Ponting and Lee deserve the rest. Johnson and Cullen should get another game each as both have done quite well, and this dead rubber should be used as a chance to play a few newer players a bit more.

I took out Katich for Cosgrove.
I put in Hopes for Johnson but wouldn't mind Johnson playing for Lee because Lee deseves a break.

I'd take that. Bit of a worry with Bracken coming in at 8, though!

I don't see the sense in resting Katich. The guy has played two ODIs, I'm sure he can handle another game. Ponting and Lee have been the busiest players, so they should be the ones rested.

Its the last game of the season, why would anyone need a rest? However the new players do need game time, but not under the pretenses of tired players.

Fair enough.

Too many loose deliveries as you say.

Doesn't seem to get much movement though but it was a flat wicket.

Is improving but his consistency really does need to increase

He got more movement and bounce out of that pitch than Lee did though. I think the really promising thing about Johnson is he uses his height really well, seems to bowl very big and gets plenty of bounce. He swings the new ball a decent amount, and got some reverse in the first ODI of the series, so those things along with the fact that he isn't too far off the 90 mph mark means he has plenty of potential in my view. A long way to go, but in a couple of years I wouldn't be surprised to see him in the test side.

Yeah, he does have a run up which relies on his height. He also managed to get some extra bounce which certainly suprised the batsmen.

He has some potential, but its just a matter of how long the selectors will stick with him until he starts taking wickets.

Having watched the ODI's this summer, both at home in Australia and in South Africa/Bangladesh, this is Australia's best ODI team. Or, at least, the team whom I would put my life in the hands of!

Jacques
Gilchrist
Ponting
Clarke
Hussey
Symonds
Watson
Hogg
Lee
Bracken
McGrath

*takes shelter from the "Watson!!?" shrieks*.

Why do they keep on bowling Hussey? It makes no sense. We have plenty of bowlers???
Isn't it obvious?

They want him to be yet another Aussie allrounder by getting his bowling average below his batting average.

Mind you, with a batting average like that even Mick Lewis would be able to get his bowling average below it!

3 wickets @ 50 still looks bad to me ;)

Its like the opposite to first chance average.

"Deserved wicket that he didn't really get but should have" average.
