Yep, upon reflection, selecting one seamer is only the sensible choice when your second seamer is a good deal less effective than your third spinner.

Well played Shabbir

Proving the doubters (*cough* AZH *cough*) wrong

Now double it please. We need a 300+ score first up here by the looks of things.

He's been streaky as **** and on a different day would have thrown his wicket away at least twice

Are Agar and Keefe bowling instead of Lyon right now because there are 2 right handers at the crease?

Because that would be amazing if true

Head bowls ahead of Zampa in ODIs when there are two left handers at the crease, even if it lasts the entire innings and Zampa ends up barely bowling.

So yes, that's what's happening.

I can't believe so many captains fall for this meme these days. Dhoni used to do it a lot too.

Also, this pitch is playing really well.
Yeah, 5/150 is exciting, but after the initial fun it looks pretty road-y (in a typical subcontinent way e.g. road once you get set, hard before). Much more like what I expected a Bangladesh pitch to be.

works in Australia's favor if the pitch is flat tbh. Bangladesh are a long way from a threatening first innings score, and if this pitch holds up on Days 2 and 3 Aus could pile on a seriously big score

Cartwright looks trundler
Yeah this is one of the few times where an overseas commentator looking at the FC stats of a new player actually does tell a better story than the 'local' commentator who is supposed to know a lot about him. Julian's commentary surrounding the Cartwright selection today has been awful.

yeah disappointing. I think he was drafted in tests too soon like soumya. Should have been asked to play more FC
I felt this was extremely obvious at the time. I remember talking to Athlai on Facebook about how Bangladesh didn't actually need to rush talented batsmen to like Shabbir and Sarkar into the Test team and that was it a sign of their improvement as opposed to previous eras when they had to take endless punts on young bats. And then they went and picked them straight away anyway. :(

Admittedly I think the argument you made that I argued against was "Shabbir is our most talented bat and should bat #3 in ODIs", I don't think you actually said anything about whether he should play Tests or not. I was really surprised that you regarded him the most talented though.

If the pitch is flat, 5/220 is a great position for Aus to be in when taking the 2nd new rock

I think Australia did well by picking up 5 wickets in this so far. Pitch is flat except a bit slow maybe. You would expect big partnership anyhow here and thats what happening. Australia very much on top
