"In a pitch having uneven bounce and extra turn it's better to go for scoring runs instead of staying at the wicket. This is the only way to winning this test "

"What does Bangladesh think? That the pitch will suddenly get better for batting? Be aggressive, take the attack to Australia, and that pressure will hopefully extract bad bowling from them. "

These are the sort of people Soumya Sarkar hangs out with

Yea it's a bad idea to just try and defend and grind and stick at the crease because you will inevitably get a ball with your name on it, but it's also a bad idea to just throw caution to the wind and attempt to score a run a ball 50

These guys have been doing it perfectly so far. Pick up the ones and twos wherever you can, hit the balls that need to be hit, and be prepared to defend and leave and be beaten and keep trucking on.

Solid effort thus far.

Tamim is a ****ing hero.
Was a massive fan since he came down the wicket to Zaheer Khan 10 years go and smacked him over his head. Loved his twin hundreds in England 2010. Then went went on a decline and became a frustrating player. Mighty proud and happy to see his change in the last 2 years. Still remember his words after the 1st test loss to England last year "we cannot be happy with so little", then captained the team after lunch in the 2nd test and won them the game

Not this team other than Warner. Renshaw, Handscomb and Maxwell 2.0 have demonstrated ability to grind it out. Khawaja - has only played 2 tests before this so let's see. And I feel embarrassed to even mention Smith in this conversation.

.
Most subcontinental pitches are not like that though. That's more true for certain pitches in England or even the Hobart one in Australia last year where the pace of the game is still higher.

In most subcontinent tracks, you can absolutely grind it out - look at Pujara, YK, or even Handscomb, Marsh, Smith in India this year.

I reckon its still possible to grind it out. Especially against a team like Bangladesh whose shoulders drop easily. Even when Australia went getting many runs, just the fact that Agar and Cummins were able to survive was visibly discouraging Bangladesh pretty quickly.

Wade is averaging 22 with the bat in the 9 tests since his recall. This is to replace Nevill who we dropped for batting badly. Nevill's average - 22.

Why the hell do we keep picking this ridiculous excuse of a keeper when we have a decent one sitting at home.

The worst thing - Nevill hit a 60* (153) before running out of partners trying to grind out a draw two games before he was dropped. The next game our entire batting lineup fails and we say farewell to a much better keeper for one who isn't any better with the bat.

yea fair. BD are carrying some toothless bowlers you can always milk for runs as well, like Shaiful and Nasir. Fizzy hasn't been threatening either. Just gotta survive the three spinners and you'll score.

He got dropped and was told to work on his batting and proceeded to score a ton of runs in shield cricket too didn't he?
