I didn't think Perry had doe enough even with his good end to the season to deserve an A spot, especially considering how dire he was earlier.

You're right that the overall bowling attack is bleh. Hatcher always looks good but I don't think he deserves a spot even in a weak side. Fact is he's been around eight years and is not an FC standard bowler. To be honest I doubt McAndrew is never going to amount to anything other than a decent domestic cricketer either, except maybe in T20s.

I'm not a huge fan of our future bowling stocks overall. I think there's some decent players but only Morris stands out as a potential express bowler. We usually manage to make it work though.
Certainly agree that overall things are not looking super bright in terms of the future Test attack, while I do rate some of the younger bowlers going around (Sutherland, Buckingham, Bartlett and possibly a couple of others) Morris does by far seem the best bet in terms of of someone with that extra yard of pace, I am a huge Spencer Johnson fan but realistically he doesn't have time on his side, all the other rapid bowlers around are either clearly too scattergun or have barely even played any major level cricket in the first place.

As for McAndrew, as much as I would love to see him go on further it does seem a long shot. Main thought however is though South Australia are lucky to have him

The other thing against McAndrew, even if he did progress enough to be genuine international standard, is that his type of cricketer (Right-arm seam bowling all-rounder) is not exactly in short supply in Aus these days, even if he's more of a bowling all-rounder than a batting all-rounder. He would have a few to get past. Would probably need a bit of a Ryan Harris-like transformation to be good enough to play as a genuine quick

Slow morning at work, thought I'd have a go at naming our first 7 bowling attacks (mixing up formats a bit)

Starc
Cummins
Hazlewood

J.Richardson
Boland
Neser

Abbott
Morris
S.Johnson

Behrendorff
Ellis
Sutherland

Paris
Bird
Meredith

K.Richardson
Bartlett
Sams

Steketee
W.Agar
McAndrew

?Siddle

So that's 20+ seam bowlers I'd be expect to be able to do some sort of a job, in at least some format, to a competitive level. And that's ignoring all rounders like Cam Green.

Yeah, we’ve got plenty of depth

Main issue is that Haze & some of the younger bowlers have injury concerns

Bad start, Bancroft with a particularly horrid looking dismissal.
I reckon jewell's was worse. Ball looked good cause of how he got dismissed, but realistically if he hadn't walked so far across he could have just comfortably left it.

At this rate, Warner could see another 3 years of Test Cricket!!

Having watched a fair bit of McAndrew play for Sussex this Summer, there was literally nothing to suggest he could be a Test Cricketer. Fortunately, Australia seem to have at least 15 quicks ahead of him.

Bold statement considering how much better he has been than the Sussex homegrown fast bowling "talent" in the county champoinship

Which, I'm sad to say, is really not saying a lot (although a million miles below Robinson).

Another name not mentioned by @TheJediBrah (and I'm really not sure who he'd be qualified to play for now) is Dan Worrall. Just bowled Surrey to victory and cementing their place at the top of Div 1.

Pretty sure Franky is ineligible, his Surrey contract is via a UK passport iirc

Damn good innings from Philippe, came in at 4/65 so it certainly was a pressure sutuation, little bit chancey at times but he played some incredible shots

I don’t mind McAndrew but he’s the 3rd rated seamer in his own state

Philippe is arguably the only genuine Australia A player in this squad and he just scored a ton

Yeah, he’s actually in England doing a Masters in Finance and the cricket is just a bonus at this point

On current form, you could create an all Oval seam attack with Abbott and Johnson as the 3rd choice line up.

I like watching Worrall bowl as he’s very skilled but probably tries too many things so always something happening

Abbott is a very good cricketer but probably destined to be a white ball player for Australia

Johnson will be fast tracked alongside Morris

Phillipe doesn't even make his state side at full strength

I hate to say it but Bancroft is probably the closest thing to a genuine Australia A player in the squad (he shouldn't be though)
