**Official** Asia Cup 2012

I am liking Bangladesh to pull off at least one upset at home.
Bat first, make 230-250ish, and their army of SLA should be able to defend it.
Nah, expect them to get manhandled in this series. A fit Perera would end careers of most of them as well as a Raina in form.

The Bangladesh squad has been announced and I am surprised by the exclusion of Tamim Iqbal, I understand he is recovering from a groin injury but he's been named in the reserve list ? If he's fit, surely he should be in the squad, if he isn't he should be left out totally to fully recover from his niggle.

He does have a lot to learn but the guy is a very talented Bangladeshi batsman, and I can't believe they have anyone near his talent to replace him. I also heard it may be relating to his controversial side, think he's had a couple of disagreements but from what I understand nothing that would cause exclusion from the side, but I don't know the ins and outs.

The other issue is not naming the captain and vice-captain until later ? Is Mushfiqur's reign already nearing the end, if not why on earth has he not been named as the skipper ?

Rubel Hossain left out too, seems to have dropped a yard in pace of late when I've seen him, can be a useful option though when in decent rhythm imo.
Tamim is a pretty rubbish ODI bat.

According to media reports Tamim was picked by the selectors (the chief selector happens to be his uncle) but was then dropped from the squad by the BCB chief Mustafa Kamal.

The captaincy issue is apparently punishment to Mushfiqur due to some recent comments he's made about the (dis)organisation of the BPL.
As far as I'm aware Rubel is injured or coming off a recent injury.

With all due respect to Bangladesh, they don't have an embarrassment of riches when it comes to useful ODI batsmen, and I wouldn't suggest they're in a position to do without Tamim purely on a cricketing basis.

If Rubel is injured fair enough, I'd just read that he had been dropped from the squad.

The Tamim situation seems a little absurd, selection from the selectors then goes through to Kamal who can overrule any inclusions he doesn't like, without knowing everything about it, from the outside looking in it looks ridiculous.

More disruption with captaincy issue, surely the whole situation could have been managed better.

Sachin in and Sehwag rested and Zaheer Khan rested for India.

Tamim Iqbal rested for Bangladesh.

I think india will win this Asia cup. Indian cricket has become almost surreal, it has morphed into something that is almost sublimely dominant in these type of conditions, but it struggles outside the subcontinent like a fish suffocating when taken out of water.

Wow, this is a whole lot more interesting now than the last time I checked the score.

Bangladesh in a good position with this chase. If they play Afridi well they could walk this.

Pre-meditating and across the line in skiddy conditions vs Afridi. Really poor from both of them. If they keep this up he will have a field day.

Still, good chance for Bangladesh as long as Tamim is there. 50 up!
