There are plenty of ways to quantitatively incorporate humidity into temperature readings tbf. "Feels like", humidex etc.

But yeah, whilst obviously 40c+ is extreme, it's actually pretty manageable so long as you wear a big hat and take in a lot of fluid. Certainly I've seen days which have taken a much more drastic physical toll on the players than yesterday, and usually that's because it's both hot and humid, even if not as scorching as that.

So true! A lot of international cricketers when they come for the IPL talk extensively about Chennai heat, whereas the reality is that Adelaide and Perth are way more hotter than Chennai. The torture of playing in Chennai is more due to extreme humidity than heat.
