One thing that does play into Starc's hands was what happened in the last Ashes. Boland doesn't feel comfortable when he's being attacked, whereas that plays into Starc's strengths.
West Indies though is a different story.

With a sure Australian victory snatched from them in Brisbane because of the weather & 1 good 2nd innings in the 1st test by India + 1 bad 2 innings performance by Australia with the bat they've been outplayed throughout.
Only dogged determination by lower order batsmen + the big Kahuna in Bumrah propping them up they've been begging to hit the canvas throughout the series.
