@silentstrikerTbf if I was captaining India Bumrah would have bowled an unbroken 42 over spell. Meanwhile, a new player, Basprit Jumrah would be bowling from the other end.

Really?rohit sharma said in the press conference that they were going for the target
Intuitively that feels right to me - fits in with the whole mentality of Rohit and Gambhir and they way they seem to approach cricket. But the Aus quicks really killed that possibility in the first session by being so relentless.Really?
They probably were initially. Bat normally, don't be overly defensive, accelerate later if you have wickets in hand. Like their Gabba win last time.Really?
I think that was just a result of what Spark said. They were batting normally and just seeing where it took them later, that was a normal rate against the bowling they were facing at the time.think that was a lie. they were 30 odd after 20ish overs
That's the thing. After they were three down I got the impression they were going for a draw. Surely they weren't going for it after lunch? Like, you can change strategy.Intuitively that feels right to me - fits in with the whole mentality of Rohit and Gambhir and they way they seem to approach cricket. Yeah I think they did change strategy but when Rohit said they were going for the target he obviously didn't mean the whole way through. Like when they were nine down they definitely were not going for it. They gave up somewhere earlier. Definitely after Pant got out but realistically probably a little earlier than that. That's the thing. After they were three down I got the impression they were gong for a draw. Surely they weren't going for it after lunch? Like, you can change strategy.
I don't think they fully shut up shop until after drinks in the middle session. Even during the first half of that session they still went at like 4 an over without that much risk and certainly Jaiswal was playing his shots, it felt like they were weighing up their options to see if they could go for it.That's the thing. After they were three down I got the impression they were going for a draw. Surely they weren't going for it after lunch? Like, you can change strategy.

long tail but we are dropping two tailenders and replacing them with batsmen
I went to that game. I remember Kim Hughes hitting Bedi into the top deck of the members stand then Bedi cleaned him up a short while later with a well flighted oneFun Fact: India have only ever won one test at the SCG. That was way back in 1978 when the Packer WSC decimated the Aussie team and 42 year old Bob Simpson came out of 11 year retirement to captain
Close, but he'd make sure the #8 and #9 there could bat a little bit too even if they were **** bowlers. #punishmentThis is like the 'hb's T20 team' of test teams.

Well just swap out Deep for Thakur. Bumrah can bat, at least against Jimmy Anderson.Close, but he'd make sure the #8 and #9 there could bat a little bit too even if they were **** bowlers. #punishment
Didn't he hit Broad for like 30+ in an over once?Well just swap out Deep for Thakur. Bumrah can bat, at least against Jimmy Anderson.
