The thing is, there's just no one that's really been happy about the SCG for the last ~20 years. There's always something, the pitch, the outfield, the shield team never being able to play there. And we're told they can't do drop ins because they're too big for the SCG

I think the nature of recent (last 20 years) Test matches there suit the fact that it's the last Test of the series. Whether the pitches are roads or minefields, they make for celebratory cricket- whether it be massive double tons, or 3 day thrillers

Starc not a great in Tests. He's good but a fast bowler around 28 average isn't anything great.
Given that its against a wide variety of opponents I'd agree he should've cashed in against some of the weaker opponents a little more than his overall ave suggests hes done.

What did he say?

I mean the deck wasn't a minefield..it had a lot of life in it. Besides....do we really want decks prepared as roads for Test cricket? How boring. Good Test of batsman's technique and temperament.

It's like batting in India - big turning decks. Again a good Test for the batsman. That's what world Test cricket should be about.
It was a lottery. Very poor pitch

Unless you're prime WI you won't have three fast bowlers averaging 25. Cummins is one of the best of his generation, Hazelwood superbly consistent and a quick guy bowling LF with a real point of difference (swing, yorkers) at less than 28 is a terrific asset. Australia have had the best bowling attack for the last 7-8 years and Starc has more than done his job.
