Was poised to end so well. Above all I think the fans just want more cricket. It’s really sad and infuriating tbh, made no better by RTB and sledger enjoying themselves like pigs in ****.

I agree that the series has been really enjoyable to this point and another Test could have been great.

But this one had a high chance of being mostly rained off anyway, so I'm not as down about the cancellation as I might've been.

Honestly the only way this could have been funnier is if GIMH got on his train.

My wife broke her toe a couple of weeks back.

She was due to be coming to this one with me, but still struggling hobbling about so I invited my older
brother.

He’s never been to the cricket. He did have tickets, with me, for day 4 at Old Trafford in 2014 against India.

Think he’s cursed but on the plus side he’d talked his wife into giving us a lift there and she was fine with that as she could go the Trafford Centre. Otherwise we’d have certainly been on the train and you’d be made up.

I mean I'd guess the bcci have agreed some deal to compensate the ecb which is all that matters at the end of the day for the boards. Lets be honest England aren't reaching the final of the WTC, and the ecb don't really care whether it's 2-1 or 2-2.

Fans get ****ed but no-one from the ecb or bcci really cares about that.
Indian players involved in next year's hundred

10.28am The series is still live! The BCCI says that the two boards will look to reschedule the Test... remarkable scenes...

"In lieu of the strong relationship between BCCI and ECB, the BCCI has offered to ECB a rescheduling of the cancelled Test match. Both the Boards will work towards finding a window to reschedule this Test match."

Wow, that's a development. Quite how and when they will do this remains to be seen. Although India are due to return to the UK in 2022 for three T20Is and three ODIs, so there's some feasibility there. Apart from anything else, James Anderson will be 40 years by then... but Ben Stokes and maybe even Jofra Archer could be back for the decider...

"The BCCI has always maintained that the safety and well-being of the players is of paramount importance and there will be no comprise on that aspect.

"The BCCI would like to thank the ECB for their co-operation and understanding in these trying times. We would like to apologise to the fans for not being able to complete an enthralling series."

Just to add they managed to get Warks v Hants up and running when a squad member tested positive, although Durham v Surrey was, like this test match, written off - they gave us a few days' warning though (heard on the grapevine that the Surrey lot were already in Durham training).
