**Official** 4th Test at Melbourne, 26-30 Dec 2024

I'd rather see Bird brought back than debuting a youngster and picking an undercooked Jhye for the last test, especially if Cummins and Starc are the ones rested.

Goodness me that would be a terrible attack. Boland/ Richardson/ unproven youngster/ Lyon. Yuck. Much as I love Jhye, he's a huge risk at this point. To play him alongside an unproven bowler and Boland for a crucial match would be insane.
Boland is the bees knees bro, any attack with him is automatically GOAT level

wanna give me those odds? I’ll bet $100 to win a hundred thousand. 😂

Currently, both Australia and a draw are paying about the same (2.1). India are at 7. Australia are probably a good bet at those odds honestly.
Actually 7 to 1 looks pretty good there. I would say they are not factoring in 3rd inningsitis with plenty of time left to play, however in this case Bumrah looks almost cooked, has been getting treatment on the sidelines, and it would prob take them 2-3 days to get 10 wickets without him. Wonder what the odds were for India a day ago

Yes given it’s a one man attack and that man is clearly not 100%, 7:1 is fair enough. Essentially they’re banking on an Aussie collapse 1/7 times - eg Bumrah and another bowler just happens to get all the edges in an opening spell. Which I think is fair enough.

If India are to run through Australia on this pitch, it wouldn't be because of some incredible spell. It would be because the Aussies threw away wickets in an effort to put quick runs on the board. It has happened before - 2003 Adelaide.

Or Siraj 0. Either way let’s see what fight is left in these old dogs. This is it. Sydney will be unpredictable with 14d forecast being hit or miss. Biggest day of the series today.

No way Siraj should or will be selected next Test if he fails again with the ball. Neither should Rohit or Kohli but obviously neither will be dropped mid series.

And again the pattern continues in this test: why is a pitch only bemoaned as ‘flat’ whenever India are doing ok with the bat, and shouldn’t we have expected a Day 3 pitch to be good for batting?

It's tight but yeah, I don't think it bounced after it hit the bat. Staggered the 3rd umpire was so certain.

Didn't matter anyway.

I just don't think there is any way of saying that is definitively out based on those angles, so I think it was the right result, but equally, the third umpire claimed the bump ball just based off the first one, which was a methodology issue.

Righto, if Australia collapse here we will be told the pitch ‘got spicy’ all of a sudden. And if they bat well the purported ‘flatness’ will never be mentioned.

Australia aiming to give themselves 4 sessions? They don't want to leave everything on the line in Sydney but I can't see them setting an overly generous declaration. Pretty good slow pitch and India have Jaiswal and Pant.
