Most likely but tbf it wasn't the same injury he picked up. I'm more willing to ascribe it to bad luck more than anything else; if he'd re-done his side strain then I'd be properly pissed

Well, congrats India.

I really hope this sets Cummins (and probably more crucially, the fitness staff) a lesson. Obviously the big talking point is the weather, but still India were down and out. They've effectively saved the game here.

The irony is he was ruled out prior test for side strain, and this time its his calf after only a few overs!? He's become pretty fragile is concerning. Similar to another promising Aus fast bowler- Jhye who hasn't played for years.

He has a history of injuries to all parts of his body.

That's the thing, if India avoid the follow on it goes from an 80/20 draw/Aus win to a 95/4/1 draw/Ind win/Aus win.

I don't think Cummins would go for it though. Way too risky at 1-1 especially given a draw would give India the series if they maange to win. Plus it'd just knacker the bowlers further.
Firstly, 20% is massively overstating the chances of victory and secondly, it's ridiculous to call something that had an 80% chance of happening, happening anyway, "series-changing".

If anything missing the follow-on could simply mean that the game is basically shut down now and the bowlers get to save their legs.

notice how the Aussie posters tolerate this line of posting from one of their own. Gambhiring is fair game when it's for your own side.
How often does India choke must-win Tests, though? It feels like it happens a lot to Australia....

It's crazy how much mentally weaker we seem in standard Tests.

NGL this seems a bit ridiculous. Deep just smoked him for 6!

If India had confidence in their batting, surely they would want Australia to have to bowl again in this situation. Australia might as well treat the next innings as a bit of a free hit/practice for the next test. If the weather is good, they can still go for an unlikely win, otherwise save the bowlers' legs.
