Well known Victorian medium pacer Peter Siddle giving Cook some 2010/11 practice by bowling short and wide so he can get his 50.

The actual rain looks to be clearing on the radar, although there will remain very small, scattered showers.

If the pitch is as soft as some have implied blowing 18°C air onto it won't work in a hurry.

So this is whole "the pitch has to be at the same state as end of play" business just the prerogative of the umpires?

Can understand trying to get the pitch back to acceptable if it's like putty like we've been hearing, but surely what the umpires want is pushing the penny too far given what's happened? Might as well just call it off.

Probably the farcical end the ground deserves. Hate the place so much. Either 2 1/2 days of slip catching practice or a road that stretches to eternity. Most bland and horrific pitch throughout its misbegotten life and curated by some of the biggest dumb****s that have ever ruined a game. #takethetestfromperth

I also don't understand why the captains get a say in the matter at all.

Yeah, Carberry looked as good as any England bat that series but just couldn't get that one big score to cement his spot. Curiously, went out three times to Watson (who only got one other wicket that series) and did have a couple of unlucky dismissals like a brilliant catch by Warner in Hobart.

Either way, I think we should all be glad the WACA will be dead after today and that Dennis Lillee can piss on it's grave.

Wow, the intimidatory bowling law was actually enforced. Not like there were multiple instances where it should been earlier in the series.
