Good omen for tomorrow: my school's football side has just demolished a touring school from Sydney.

Argh, that's well scary, seriously. The u-14 team at my club (my team), played a tourin team from Melbourne, and beat them too, but we didn't really thrash them........

It was Crawley keeping that day?, well maybe it was can't really remember, but anyway i have seen the bloke keep enough on TV & a few times at OT to make a fair judgement.

Yes you've repeated it now - but not what you'd said earlier.

The problem is a keeper cannot be recommended based on runs scored - the number of people who've suggested Matt Prior for the England role is considerable bearing in mind that every report I've heard of his keeping is that it makes the debuting Geraint look like Jack Russell in his prime.

Marc speaks the truth. Unless you're speaking of Gilchrist like batting ability, you can't pick based on that. And if you have someone like Gilchrist, he would make it in as a specialist batsman anyway, and if he can keep at a decent level for you, thats just a plus.

Otherwise, all you want is someone who isn't a total mug with the bat. Totally ridiculous to forego a better keeper because he averages 4-5 less (and on form, averages more).

Yes Mahmood and Monty in. Well England may also already have lost this test with Jones and Harmison in the team...

Neither Jones nor Read will make a difference. Both are crap relatively speaking; Read is just less crap.

As for Harmison, he must play. Anderson is simply not good enough to trouble the Aussies. At his best, Harmison can definitely trouble the Aussies.
Being down 2-0, England have no choice but to pray and hope that Harmison is at his best in this test.

Stats of note (Pulled from Stats Guru):

Langer & Hayden average an opening partnership of just 18 at Perth....
Ponting needs just 197 more runs to become the highest Run-scorer at the WACA.
Warne averages just 37 with a SR at the WACA
