The weather forecast didn't say it was going to rain on and off all day though. It said some showers in the morning and then it'd be clear until 3 or 4. The sun also came out during the later stages of the first session.

Obviously bowling first has been highly advantageous so it would have been nice to make that call, but Cook was going to bat as well so... can't be too critical of Clarke I don't think.
Yeah not saying he completely ****ed up but this was a bowl first

I'd be more critical of some of the shots than the decision to bat first. Clarke/Marsh/Nevill/Voges all very ordinary.

What is it?
Guy on a train says to him "what are we going to do about Jimmy he's lost it." Beef replies he's not and pulls out stat that Jimmy has only gone wicketless in a test 6 times.

It's had 4 airings so far. He's as bad as Warne.

Starc can bat from what I've seen, hope we don't do our normal **** against the tail. Might be worth having a look at Moeen after few from Broad.

yeah that's the way to go, we're gonna get bundled out soon so might as well go for the shots (at least Starc and co.)

The decision to bat was the correct one.

The way they've played against what's been an excellent spell of bowling from Anderson has been disappointing though.

With the sun out now I'm just imagining Clarke declaring at 7/99 and then England cruising to 1/130 or something at stumps. Would be, I think, literally the worst captaincy decision of all time.

I'd bowl Stokes ahead of Moeen on this. And tbh if Moeen does get a bowl today, Aus will have posted a pretty decent recovery.
