***Official*** 2nd Test at the Adelaide Oval

That's an absolutely idiotic shot from Martyn. I've been a big fan of his, but you can't play shots like that in that sort of situation so often. Watson will come in for Martyn next test, if Clarke makes any runs today.

Interesting that there's been so little criticism of England for their incredibly defensive tactics, after the Warne around the wicket saga. Fielders in run saving positions all over, even to the new batsmen, and Flintoff and Hoggard both bowling well wide of off-stump to Ponting. Martyn had two fielders basically saving a boundary on the cut shot from the moment he came to the crease. Fairly sensible tactics on this sort of pitch mind, especially given that Australia seem intent on fairly quick scoring, but extremely defensive for a team with 550 on the board, a couple of wickets and a newish ball.

Anyway, Australia are in pretty deep strife now. One more wicket for England before lunch and they're in the box seat to bowl Australia out cheaply.

Having said that, bloke in a one-day game yesterday came out, opened the batting, made the lazy 159, then proceeded to open the bowling aswell and bowl his full allotment.
Because a 50 over games is as much batting as Collingwood had to do isn't it?

Even before you take into account the slightly more difficult bowling to face...

Fair bit of denial there.
How is it denial when Ponting is averaging 100 this year and almost impossible to get out once set? Its more probable that he will take the game away frm England that get out cheap. Aussies are fine atm.
