*Official* 2022 New Zealand Tour of England, Ireland, Scotland & Netherlands

U19 Vice-Captain
Positives - Pope, Root, YJB, Overton (batting, think the short pitched stuff was ill advised by his skipper), Potts, Broad, Leach (10-fer!)
Middling - Lees (bowled by a worldie then run out by his partner so not done much wrong but no scores) Stokes (suicidal batting, average bowling whilst probably not fully fit but interesting / inspiring captaining)
Negatives - Crawley (not sure what the answer is for an opener but it's not Crawley) Foakes (Keeping error, poor batting then bad back / covid, not his match) Root's catching in the slips, The new Dukes balls that don't keep shape

I must say this eaves an interesting conundrum for England in the Ashes. Do they prepare dry flat pitches to favour 'Baseball' against an attack more potetnet in said conditions, which also render their own bowling less potent, or do they prepare the traditional greener wickets on which Australia struggle but will cause this kind of batting to fold like a deck of cards.
greentops v an australian lineup with smith a long way off his 2019 form imo. very different proposition. god knows what englands bowling lineup will look like by that point tbh

of course he could go beast mode again between now and then

Our spin bowling figures for the series

317 runs given off 49 overs. 5 wickets (out off which 2 tail enders) @ 64.

We have come from 5 bowlers to three.

Last time England dominance was declared in tests it lasted about a year.

Speaking of which, got any UAE tours coming up? Another must be due soon.
I'm joking. I still think the jury is out, New Zealand handed it to us on a plate with poor bowling, Batting and bizarre team selections and there was a wiff off the "feel good factor" with new Coach/Captain.

Weird how the 3 Tests have followed such a similar pattern despite the pattern in question being kinda crazy (several major swings of momentum back and forth in the first half, somehow always resulting essentially in parity after both sides have batted once; NZ set a perfectly respectable total in the third innings, England chase it comfortably on day 5).

England are coming to NZ in the (southern hemisphere) summer for 2 tests (non WTC matches). Surely make it 3 - will get great crowds:

-chance for revenge after horror tour
-(hopefully) some exciting new talent and goodbyes to old for NZ
-Baz ball (and the McCullum factor)
-post covid trip for Barmy Army etc
-possibly get to see Anderson and/or Broad one last time
