*Official* 2022 New Zealand Tour of England, Ireland, Scotland & Netherlands

But seriously, if there's 120 runs on the board, the ball's 30-40 overs old, and the pitch is offering relatively little (none of which were active factors today, obviously) why not have gun white ball batsmen try and blast the ball around and score at a white ball run rate? They're good at it and they have the techniques for it. The opposition have more flexibility with the fields, but what other factors are there?

I'm all in favour of more of this happening. Especially if the Poms are leading the revolution, because it's at least funny when it goes wrong.

The only thing Wagz can’t do it seems is the DRS. Second time this year that he hasn’t been remotely interested in reviewing a totally salmon lbw.

I have to say the NZ selections on this tour have baffled the **** out of me. You select Patel on a green top, then drop him when the pitch looks much better for the spinner. And having scored a gazillion runs in the last test, but failed to bowl the opposition out, they decide to play an extra batsman and only three specialist bowlers.
But the crowning turd in the swimming pool is sitting out Wagner in the first two tests. If he's fit, he plays. I don't give a **** how he's bowling in the nets.

I can understand in a way how Wagner missed out the first game as Jamieson and the opening bowlers plus a spinner is a decent attack. To not pick Wagner when you bring in a 4th quick was bizarre. As for playing the part timer here ahead of Patel it looks a mistake that won't matter.
