Would say despite Sri Lanka being in transition to a degree (with Sanga/Mahela/Malinga still in the team there is still a fair bit of experience there) they are still the strongest team at the tournament, the team has good balance and probably has the most dependable players. In Malinga and Mendis we have two excellent LO bowlers, whereas India have next to nothing in terms of LO bowlers, and we have Sanga/Mahela and the rest of the batsmen, whereas Pakistan are much more inconsistent with the bat, so I'd say SL is the only team with all basis covered in the tournament, and it's showing, I'm not at all surprised by us winning all our games so far

Afghanistan clearly need some more specialist batting coaching and, if they're available, to pick more specialist batsmen. I suspect there simply aren't enough specialist batsmen from their talent pool, but that's something they'll need to work on moving forward.

I really liked the look of Rahmat Shah as a batsman in the ICup. He's very much reliant on a good defence and the ability to hit bad balls for boundaries though which is why he's not in the OD side, but as 20 years of age he's very much someone they should be trying to develop. Much like everyone else he can also bowl too.

cool. It's really quite amazing the number of club cricketers they have. With the depth of bowling talent, there should be a few young batsmen figuring things out. The problem will be too much t20, of course, but we only have to look at the David Warner example to see it's not a terrible thing.

So if Pakistan get hammered by Bangladesh and India win by a landslide, India could still make the final?
Maybe not if I understand the rules correctly. It states here
In the event of teams finishing on equal points, the right to play in the final match or series will be determined as follows:

The team with the most number of wins
If still equal, the team with the most number of wins over the other team(s) who are equal on points and have the same number of wins
If still equal, the team with the highest number of bonus points
If still equal, the team with the highest net run rate

In a match declared as no result, run rate is not applicable.

According to this rule if Pak and India finish on same points then Pakistan go through

Sri Lanka have simply been the best team in the tournament and deserve to win it. But yeah, with Pakistan in the final, it's all bets off.

Pakistan quite clearly rubbish atm against decent spin bowling. SL should win it if they score 250 in the final batting first. Ajmal is now going to make me eat my words by bowling them out cheaply, isn't he?

Ajmal has rarely done that against SL. But, yeah, there is always a first time. And Mendis to run through Pakistanis as well. Pakistan is due for a bad day against him.

I have a sinking feeling Pakistan is going to be slipping on the banana peel this game ofourse if you are PEWS you would not call is a slip up.

close enough
245 in those days was more like 290 maybe even more. Also Miandad knock won the cup Afridi knock has not even ensure a birth in the final while Miandad carried the chase on his back while Afridi just played a final overs cameo.
