No way. Interchanges should be once you are interchanged, you stay off. Imagine how great the end of games would be? Big blokes tiring, little blokes on fit legs running circles around them, only the cream of the crop being effective as forwards. It would be magnificent to see the expansive attacking play as the forwards of the other team tire.

They shouldn't keep teams back 11 or 12 metres either. It should 8 at the most. At least then you wouldn't be able to get a roll on by merely playing the ball quickly and running one out.
Disagreed. If you get a quick enough play the ball, a few players supporting the ball carrier and a half decent dummy half (lax defending every now and then helps, too), you'd have to let teams sit somewhere stupid, like 3 metres, if you wanted to stop them.

Yeah but I think that if they reduce the interchanges they will need to bring he defensive line forward to some extent - how far, I dunno.

You'd end up with even more of a deterioration of natural footballers in the game though, as the emphasis would be placed on the generic athletes who are emerging throughout the game, rather than the skills of the players.

Fantastic performance from the Broncos tonight. The Eels really should have put them away in the first half. Berrigan had one of the best games of his career.

They started rusty and didn't look confident, but once they got some posession they looked dangerous with the ball. Once Hodges comes back, it could make a real difference to the side. Hopefully Bennett gives him a run at 5/8 or at least fullback.

I was somewhat bemused that he was selected at 5/8, especially after Rangi Chase has been playing extremely well there over the past few weeks, whereas the centre combinations haven't exactly been the greatest...

Just quietly, I think it might be in his contract - or at least have been a big bargaining chip when he signed. Rumours were ripe that he'd go to union, and the main reason he had for staying in league was that he still had things to achieve - namely the transition to pivot.

Interesting thing is if Hodges returns at 5/8 for the Broncos we could have the three 'best' centres in the game playing at 5/8. Personally i think that pretty much shows why the standard of League this season has been so poor. There no playmakers left in the game. Coaches prefer either a better defensive options at 5/8 and sometimes halfback. Or a player they just want to touch the ball as much as possiable in attack. Passing and kicking ability seem like secondary skills in League for playmakers.

There is way too much importance on defensive and so little placed on attack. Thats why if any team does throw the ball out wide, teams struggle to defend. As they are so used to playing sides with little imagination with the ball. But with so little playmarkers left there isn't many players that can really test a defensive. Basically one every two to three weeks a playmaker gets selected or gets it right and they run rings around some static defensives.
