When your captain has to turn to Marnus for some dibbly dobbly bouncers then obviously the bowling is the issue. I would honestly start from a clean slate. Spencer Johnson and Boland with the new ball.
Australia bowled India out for 150! In the same test the bowling not the issue. your whole case based on one innings! Which flated out fast with very little rest in between. India bowlers had two days of rest between, while Australians bowling had no rest at all any bowling attack was going to struggle including, Spencer and boland.

Starc, Cummins and Lyon are all very capable of bowling India out cheap they already done it lots of times in the past and even in this test. However I do agree boland should play at same point this summer maybe 3rd test or 4th.

Look the new blood going to get their chance in the coming years but Don't need to rush the greatest trio we ever had out the door based on one innings!. This is same bowling attack that won us the World cup 2023, T20 world cup 2021, WTC 23 and retain the Ashes.

Overreaction to this must considering no body gave india a chance in hell so that must shocked everbody. Anyway as indian fan i would say no need to change your bowlers our batting is fragile and wont be shocked if they are exposed in Adelaide test

Does anyone remember last time Australia lost great bowling trio? 2007-08 we went on to lose the next 3 Ashes series! and failed to defend our World Cup title!. Rushing great players out the door never ends well.

Just wow. Cummins says he doesn't expect any changes to the XI for next Test

"The sole concern heading into the next Test might be all-rounder Mitchell Marsh, who Cummins conceded was "a little bit sore" after his bowling workload at Perth"

Marsh should just give up bowling as he pulls up sore everytime he bowls
Cummins is on record as saying that he wants Australian stalwarts to go out on their own terms and not be dropped

Everyone knows that Marnus is cooked (for the time being at least) but he won’t be dropped for Adelaide

That is just stupid and as Cummins is not a selector he should not have any say in the matter. Also Marnus is only 30, so he has plenty of time to work his way back into the team

I don't see any problem per se with the captain publicly backing his team mates. Would you prefer that he undermined dressing room buy-in by publicly slating them?

It's probably tone deaf ofc but the captain can't be going around throwing teammates under the bus. That's George Bailey's job, if he's brave enough to do it.

It got us 2 extra years of Warner when we should have been developing a replacement

Interesting odds shift... whoda thunk India favourites in Aus after 1/5 Tests. Woulda been a bit diff before the first Test. And the drawn series looks a hot punt, seems at least as likely as an Aus win now.IMG_7853.jpeg

I reckon those of us who had worked out what a hole the Aussie batting had fallen into gave India plenty of chance.

I’m not convinced this is easily turned around either. There’s only so many times the bowlers can bail them out.

There must stop making seaming pitches for a while atleast till their new batters find feet. It is as stupid as india making turners when much of our batting is so brittle

Australia can't just doctor the pitches like Pakistan did...

It’s not the test pitches

Australian batsmen have benefited from facing rubbish Kookaburras for years and their techniques are awful as a result

Smith, Khawaja, Marnus, Harris etc basically don’t have a forward defence because the ball made it possible to hang back as it did nothing

It’s no mystery as to why our teams consistently collapse in SA & England

Now the ball has changed in Australia, Smith & Uzi are old and Marnus has been exposed as a ftb

I actually think that McSweeney is better equipped to handle it than the others as he’s got solid fundamentals and isn’t totally reliant on his eye/talent

Have they lost the keys to the mower or something?

I think there have been external factors that have made pitch prep a bit harder over the last few years, though others disagree. But there really isn't anything stopping them from cutting the grass back a little more.

Australia were like 80-90% to win the series before it started about 70% chance to win the first Test. That’s a crazy turnaround.

don’t know howmuch of that isdue to Indian money influx betting on India and swinging it.

IMG_0414.jpegInterestingly on my betting site, Australia still favorites to win the next test. Too bad, I thought if india were favorites, I’d lay money on Australia because I think Indian money might have skewed the odds.
IMG_0413.jpeg

interestingly, even at those odds, more people betting on India. I want the odds to move a little towards india and I’ll bet on Australia if it gets close to even. There’s no way Aussies with their pride and skill and record won’t be completely up and about for that Test after how much they got embarrassed here.
