Also, to be a bit more eugenistic- In the past, mainly the upper class Indians could play cricket. Speaking from personal experience, most of us upper classers are intellectual, podgy and unathletic. Now you've got guys who are better physical specimens, more athletic, more from a pedigree of physical labour. You know...actual athletes
