Told a guy at work I thought jaiswal was gonna have a horrible series after the duck given how he flashes balls in the air around gully a ton. Eating my words RN.

Interesting strategy here from AUS, btw. Bowling half a foot down leg with the new ball is something.

Not sure if Hazlewood's either completely knackered or is trying too hard, because he never goes full Starc, let alone twice in one over.

Most of all, the end of vegetarianism has allowed fast bowlers to develop
This is said as a joke but there is some truth to this.

Not end of vegetarianism but non-vegetarian castes/groups becoming rich enough that they can afford meat often and have the protein intake.

Here is the list of players with the most sixes scored in a calendar year in Tests:
  • Yashasvi Jaiswal (IND) - 34 sixes* (2024)
  • Brendon McCullum (NZ) - 33 (2014)
  • Ben Stokes (ENG) - 26 (2022)
  • Adam Gilchrist (AUS) - 22 (2005)
  • Virender Sehwag (IND) - 22 (2008)
  • Andrew Flintoff (ENG) - 21 (2004)
Jaiswal still has 3 tests + the remainder of this innings left aswell.

Plenty of sides have played on ‘flat pitches’ in Australia. There’s almost always good bounce which the Aussies are used to, but not many real demons. How many times have we seen Australia bat first and the opposition are cooked in the sun while watching the Aussies get some huge score for the loss of a few wickets. Seems there’s more chat about a ‘flat pitch’ in this game.

Vaughan just flat out trolling Australia for the last 10 minutes.
True, but he has asked numerous times who is kicking the door down and they didn't have one name. I don't follow the SS much but a brief look at the stats nobody really stands out IMO.

Yeah the last player who could have said to have been genuinely kicking the door down was Green. McSweeney has had a really good year but he's not done that yet.

But yeah, I agree with you; I think you really grind them down if you are able.
I guess one reason they might throw them in tonight is an extra hour of bowling tomorrow isn’t going to make much difference in terms of tiring bowlers long term when the next test isn’t til 6 December.

Why would they need to eat meat to have protein intake?

Would suspect that protein is not the issue for those above working class (plenty of it in all of the beans and legumes widely available).

Think that better food hygeine, better plumbing, better quality water and clean fresh vegetables meaning fewer sick days and more robust overall health would have a far bigger impact than buying or not buying meat.

That and better access to gyms, physios, good training facilities etc.

Barely any swing on offer. Starc's going searching for it but just looks floaty when he does.
