Think jaiswal will struggle in first two tests but would do well from third test. He has mentally strong and has stomach for hard work by the end it would be fine

This must be weakest indian team to tour aus since 91/92 sure more talented then that team with potential atgs like pant and bumar and with superb talents like jaiswal gill rana sundar and jurel. Wish sai sudharsan was there too anyway it depends on adaptability. We can adapt and get elite mindset we had during previous tour sure we can go toe to toe with Aussies

He is one of those guys who does not look like he has any real weakness as a batsman. He may well poke at one outside off but he is also just as likely to rein himself in, bat time, get himself in before looking to play his shots and that may well be what we need at #3.
Interesting. Axar Patel looks a far better batsman to me, he has proved he can bat.
Sundar looks a completely different bowler this year, maybe on par with Axar or better in SENA conditions.

India is most unluckiest team when it comes to toss/weather. all we need is some luck with toss and weather (hopefully its extremely hot so that pitch drys up and becomes easy to bat and later aids spin) then we have good shot at series

The gambhiring in this thread has been truly impressive; especially those who expect India to lose all 5. India's batting is flaky atm and I suspect that is influencing the pessimism for their chances. But Australia match India's batting weaknesses (both teams possess great players either out of form or past their best) and if the pitches are like those of recent series there should be some low scoring shoot outs.

But India have some advantages that are either overlooked or underrated. I'd include their recent drubbing by NZ. That series at least gave India quality red ball practice and they might reflect there have been a number of teams recently that have been thrashed and come back winners their next series.

I'm not sure India have been mentally scarred by the Kiwi thrashing. After all Australia is a different set of conditions. They've won here against adversity. Their batsmen play well here even when they've arrived here out of form. Kohli has been a write off but I still fear him. They have new players like Jurel who look impressive. Pant is still in his prime and their opening options more settled than ours. The bowling looks good and I wonder if Shami will be missed at all. Apart from having Bumrah, Prasidh looks good and I think they should play Rana in Perth. The depth is so good that Siraj could miss out. Whereas we'll be relying Starc, Cummin,s, Lyon and Haze almost to breaking point. Green's absence accentuating the situation. I think overall India should be confident of winning the series.
Bumrah and Pant really are the keys for Indian success this tour IMO

Gambhirng about Aus after calling out perceived gambhiring against India is an interesting posting strategy, tstl. :p

But seriously, tbb, I wish I could share your optimism. For the longest time, I have always stayed optimistic about our test side especially and have always been proud of them and their efforts even when they have lost, which has been pretty scarce since the time Virat took over. But this time, I am afraid the game is up. The great players, including a couple of our ATGs, are very much on the decline and I cant see us winning any test here. And draws are basically a non-entity these days unless there is bad weather around. Therefore, Aus winning 5-0 is an obvious conclusion most of us have arrived at. It has nothing to do with gambhiring, its just the reality.
I wish I could share your pessimism about India. I think India are a little in front wrt rejuvenating their team. I suppose that latent potential plus the fact of past successes by India out here has me a little wary.

Knowing how the training sessions went helps.

Looks like it’ll be

Rahul
Jaiswal
Padikkal
Kohli
Pant
Jurel
Reddy
Ashwin
Akash
Bumrah
Siraj

The article didn’t mention Sundar. I’d rather have him or Jadeja over Reddy.
All the news articles been saying that Rana is making his debut. Maybe he comes in for one of Siraj/Akashdeep. And surely Jadeja plays over Ashwin, we need his batting

I'd play Rana ahead of Reddy.
And I don't want to see Ashwin on this Perth track. I have seen enough of him in SA to know whats gonna happen. Just go with Sundar.
