**Official** 1st Test @ Perth, 22nd-26th November

Cricketer Of The Year
Need someone to play quick but big innings. Need to get 200 to win
This might sound strange given the mayhem on day one but you may need more. If the pitch flattens out it will consequently deliver bigger scores. You'd hope both sets of batsmen are motivated to redeem themselves for their 1st innings efforts.

He's Dale Steyn against everyone else but Martin Mccague against nz.
Lol true although tbf there were a couple of Bumrah spells in the India/NZ series where NZ's top order were playing and missing almost at will but were just lucky enough to hardly edge any.

That said Bumrah was surprisingly ordinary in the 2 tests in NZ in 2020 when we all assumed he'd be salivating on those NZ wickets & would devastate us.

Whatever it takes!!!
The old “find someone who’s an unorthodox freak of nature and assume every other **** can do it” coaching fail.

I’m left handed, so I get opening up your stance a bit because it was necessary to actually be in line with a right arm over bowler, but I don’t get the idea of inviting lbws by squaring up so much you’re offering both edges and your pads to the bowler for the sake of being able to play a leg glance, which tbh you should be able to do anyway ffs - it’s the off spin of batting - everyone should be able to play it.

And I think it was not particularly hard for me as a right hander to just open up by left foot slightly when facing left arm seamers bowling over the wicket. Theoretically you should be able to do that as a left hander as well, I guess? And I dont think it changed much in terms of how I shaped up to play except that you are less likely to get hit on the pad by the ball swinging in from middle and off.

When a left hander is facing a right handed bowler, the ball is coming from a line outside leg stump so being side on actually closes you off

That’s pretty basic stuff that all these guys know

They also know that being completely square on and playing with minimal foot movement is generally bad but many of them do it because Smith has gotten away with it for years

Players would be better off copying Chappell or Tendy but that’s not flavour of the month with coaches

His length is a bit on the shorter side for sustained success in every condition you encounter in test cricket but in Australia and probably South Africa and at times in the Windies, he can be close to unplayable when in good form.

Also, Rana and Starc were team mates at KKR. Seems like Starc is reading his variations well.

Let's just face it, he sucks **** against the best teams.

Wasn't Rana supposed to be a tearaway? I like what I've seen, don't get me wrong; he's obnoxiously confident, has adjusted very well to these conditions for a newbie, and bowls a "heavy" ball obviously, but a bit lacking in sheer speed?
