Jeez Louise she's been a poor last 12 months for Smith.

8 Tests, averaging 29 with the bat with zero tons to speak of.

Thing I find funny about that list is that Border was known as a fighter and yet he's only just above Smith in 4th innings average
4th day decks are difficult to bat on. If a batsman is averaging 40 or more in 4th innings in Test matches then they are doing pretty good.

This Smith thing is exactly what peeved me about the media coverage coming into this summer. Everyone going "move Smith to 4" before green got injured while ignoring the fact that this is exactly how Smith was last season and the whole reason he moved to opening. He was grinding out balls at 4 but struggling to score.
