Idk, isn't that pretty common? The lesser batsmen are more prone to giving it away, it's the really experienced guys who often need good balls to prise them out. Obviously Pujara's dismissal is more in the "freak accident" category than either of those.
Yeah but Rohit Virat and Ash tend to get out to poor shots a lot more often, compared to say Pujara. That is why it was funny to me.

Lol.. the only 3 batsmen who were done in by good balls have been Rohit, Virat and Ash. Won't have believed it if you said that at the start of the game. 3 of our most experienced batsmen done in by good bowling.
I was more surprised he wasn't getting picked as a bat anyway given what I saw in the U19 WC back in the day. He was only averaging low 30s in FC cricket I suppose but it still seemed weird to me.

Not sure what to do with Washington long term , the dude can clearly bat but his bowling hasn't looked acceptable for an all rounder.

I think long term he bats 5-6 (or maybe 7 if Pant is still keeping) as a batting allrounder, and is the fifth bowler. Which is more or less what he's doing in the this team.

Short term he probably just doesn't play at full strength because of Sir Jadeja.

I do think Rahane used his bowling a lot better in Brisbane than Virat has done here though. Rahane seemed happy enough to own the fact that he bowled leg darts and set a plan for that natural line; Kohli made him do something totally different.

Nah, disagree, he was far better on the second day, especially the last spell there. He took time to work out the pace and rhythm for this track but I think he will be fine long term as our back up for Jaddu at this point.

He opened a lot in first season or two of Ranji cricket too, but I don't really see it unless the opening slot becomes a real problem.

That is a disrespectful straight hit by Sundar there off Anderson. More disrespectful than Ash's cover drives off Anderson with the new ball, I guess.

Yeah no need to fix something that is not broken. He is fine as a #7 batting allrounder for now and is obviously our back up for Jaddu. We will see how things go beyond that over the next 2 or 3 years.
I do think he can do a job as a pinch hitting opener in LO cricket though. :)
