My first son was born during Alec Stewart's final test match. We called him Alec. Not that we were massive fans of the guy but after five days in hospital with nothing else on TV it was the only thing we could think of.
This is magnificent

Lack of a proper 2nd spinner hurting India big time. Joe Root is a subcontinent beast now. Game on in the 1st test

Talking of whom, I think Stewart did a Root by hitting a ton in his 100th test match. No idea how many others have done that.

They had the list up quite a few times today. Cowdrey the other English one but a fair few others on there. Ponting with the twin tons.

I thought Cowdrey may have done. They probably talked about that when Stewart hit his in 2000. No surprise about Ponting. I don't know whether Atherton was on commentary duty at all today, but his 100th test was in the same match as Stewart. Unfortunately he fell about 100 runs short of his ton.

Lately both Ken and Rootie are improving by leaps and bounds. Battle of who is best has started again.

Yea this is looking ominous. Good toss to win for England. Root is in some incredible form.

Seems like Nadeem and Sundar need to bowl better today for us to claw our way back into this match. Still don't understand why we picked 3 spinners. Was Umesh not match fit?

is that allowed?

using your bat to keep the ball away from your stumps after you've played a shot

Yes

I have a bad feeling about this series. Playing that garbage Aus side was not good prep for this. Plus they spent so much energy to win that they might be running on fumes here.

Hopefully our batters score mountains of runs too.

Bit early for the excuses, eh?

think the pitch will take spin from tomorrow and quickly get worse

we need to score quick today and not give away too much of a deficit

assuming we bowl them out that is
