'Extra pace from Cummins'

142.1

Does not compute.

Yes Cummins gets some lift from that length, but hardly exceptional.

I thought the run out rule was changed ages ago where if the bat bounced after you'd grounded it you got away with it?

Are you sure on Starc?

Unless I'm remembering his ODI feats thinking he'd done it in whites.
Starc will often bowl one (often shorter) spell at 90+ in a day in Tests, but he's usually in the high 80s for the rest of it. He's the closest of that lot.

ODIs, yeah he tends to mix thunderbolts with proper slower balls there. Not a lot in the 80s.

Actually I think the issue is that the time difference means I'll tend to catch the first hour of a day's play, so I probably watch Starc at his freshest and assume he bowls like that all day.

I think his first spell here was very much about hitting off stump with the new pill, rather than blasting anyone out. Thought he bowled really well to Cook especially, precisely what TPC would have wanted

Oh yeah absolutely. But in previous winters I'm sure when I've caught the odd hour here and there he's constantly in the 90s

Yeah I think you're both right here. His first spell usually is his 'effort' spell, but I don't think it was here -- firstly because Cook is more vulnerable against what Burgey said than fast balls at the stumps, and secondly because Mitch Marsh isn't playing in this game (as he has been throughout most of Starc's career) and Starc will need to bowl a second spell pretty soon in the first session.
