He's already jizzed all over Aus in an Ashes away series. Maybe he thinks cos he has his "aussie wings" that the challenge isn't really there anymore. Lots of these senior players have won a few too many Ashes series.. it might negatively effect their motivation for another one.
Not how champions think, Australia never get sick of winning world cups.

Currently its definite advantage Australia, but its a match that has swung both ways. England need to get through to tea with recognised batsmen at the crease. Australia will try and keep the bouncer attack going as long as possible. In theory its easy - don't play at the short ball and wait for the bad ball which will eventually come around. If England are to have any success in this series they need to bat all day tomorrow. At some point Monday they should then get a chance to see how Australia bat with little chance of winning and a possibility of losing. Well played Smith. Thought England bowled ok. although why Broad and Anderson didn't open after lunch is a mystery. A lot of players should look at Smith as a role model as he's not the most gifted player in the world but he has the ability to read match situations and not give his wicket away. Its simple really --- don't give your wicket away, take the easy runs on offer and you'll end up doing pretty well. England bowlers stuck to their task pretty well, particularly as the day 3 pitch was one that favoured Aussie quicks over our medium fast attack.

I doubt we'd have seen that exciting passage of fast bowling had England got the Australians all out earlier. They could basically bend their backs and bowl faster because stumps were just an hour away. England sort of brought that bouncer barrage upon themselves in a way.

4/6 Ashes he has averaged less than 30, another in the low 30s, one outlier

Similar vs Sa

Facts is facts - just not a great player of quick bowling
Not the whole story though. His strength is cutting and pulling off the back foot which makes the likes of playing Johnson very simple. Cooks weakness has always been to line and length bowling like McGrath, Clark, Harris, Philander etc.
