Just think past your black team for a change :P It's for the best for the players to get some international touring exposure. You'd like to depraive them of it and collar them to only play for the Blacks?
Would they not learn more playing against players of their own calibre though?

I don't see what established players will gain from this to be honest.

I'm quite certain that any players who do not wish to represent CWland in U-19 cricket can opt out of it to play for their dev league sides, just like with any other representative cricket.

The thing is if it were real life, a player who is a first choice in domestic cricket would not be dragged off to play a far lower level of game.

That's rubbish. Look at the recent U-19 WC. Plenty of the players were first class regulars, particularly from the sub-continent nations. Piyush Chawla had first class experience and was called up to the test side a week after the final. Henriques played for NSW in the ING Cup final just after the WC, and played for them before it as well.

Players who were international players would obviously not be called up to play U-19 cricket, but representative junior cricket certainly takes priority over dev league stuff.

I highly doubt anyone will say no, even if they felt like it. Because if they say no someone will bring up all the stuff from the apst about people refusing to play certain games for the CWXI. Then they might get suspended or sumthnig of the type.

And as for Under 19's not being selected because they are FC regulars. I agree with Marc, there isnt many in real life as REAL regulars but if they are im pretty sure they would play an 'important' game before any under 19 cricket unless it was a world cup.

Henriques was never a regular for NSW and only played one, one day game before he played in the final. So i can see why he played for the Under 19;s b4 NSW.

Just my thoughts. And im not on the Under 19 committee (dissapointingly) so i dont have any real say in this.

Jaso, you're not an FC specialist. :p

EDIT: Also, to all those saying that this is a waste and so forth, it's notable that various players have already stated that they are unhappy to have missed out on being selected, so it shows that players consider this to be an important part of the Dev League. I agree, too - I feel a huge sense of pride and opportunity when I represent any squad selected to represent CWLand, be it the CWXI, the president's XI or (if I had been), the 'A' side or the U-19 squad. I think each and every one of these sides shows that you are being watched by the CWBCC for how you deal in international conditions and against a different kind of opponent.

Specialist = A person who is good in one field, but not in the other. You're good in both. :p An FC specialist is more like Thomas, Weber, Cribb, etc.

A specialist means that you're not good in the other form, Jaso, not merely worse. ;) Otherwise everyone in the Dev League would be a specialist. You'll get the hang of it, I'm sure. Also, I'd say the only reason you think you're worse in the shorter form is because you don't face as many balls, since there are limited overs. :p

There, there... I think we might need to rent out an extra room for the tour ;)

Is there enough room in the budget? Well after Trav's hotel tab and all.
