NZ domestic season 2023/24

Regardless of what you think of Ollie White, I feel it’s pretty average team construction to have a kid just finding his way constantly in situations where he has to find the boundary at the death.

Seems like just about every time I’ve seen him bat he’s needed to go at 12+ an over. Otago seem to be badly missing some experience and hitting power in those 6/7/8 spots. Would possibly be better chucking someone like Johnson or White up to open and moving Gibson down.
This is the paradox of T20 cricket. You want your best players to face the most balls, which means you have less players practised in playing the middle order role hence good 5s and 6s actually become more valuable pound for pound than openers because no-one good has to bat there for long. Pollard and Russel have made a whole career out of figuring that out

King Kane

International Regular
A good win for the Stags, Will Young with a ton and Ajaz Patel with 4 wickets the standouts for them, they are a class above at this level.

Seeing Bevan Small with grey hair is wild.
He reminds me of Dan Christian with his grey hair and knack of taking wickets with his medium pacers.

Ah yes, remember the days of the great bowling all-rounder Rachin Ravindra – one must credit Stead for the miracle revelation that he's a surprisingly good bat.

*Kane's knee that led to Rachin batting up the order in the WC warm up v Pakistan

Worth also remembering that Stead batted Rachin at 10 in the warm up game following that 😅

Not Terrible
Also Tickner's economy is over 10.22 in the Super Smash. How the bloke ever got picked to play for NZ makes no sense to me at all. (McKenzie+Fisher have also sucked)

Smith looks destined to play for NZ sooner rather than later.

Wiggins is having a kind of hilariously awful season with the bat. 15 @ 3 (5 innings)
