I'm on 48 points and I'm pretty ****ed off. Made a last minute decision to change Tonga to captain over Gasnier. Gasnier had been captain all week.

Anyway I've still got Hunt, Geyer, Soliola , Faumuina and Ennis to play.

Actually I'm alot more annoyed at betting this week. I gave my mate about 30 bucks to put it on a fair few things. Anyway I haven't taken a punt on a first try scorer before and I normally bet atleast 5-10 bucks. So I thought I'd put 2 bucks on Phil Graham and Willie Tonga. Apparently 5 bucks is the minimum bet so my mate just transferred the money across to my other bets. The irony is that if he had called me then I would have just gone with 5 on Tonga and 5 on Graham :@

I'm not happy at all :@! Anyway I ended up getting 14 bucks from the first points in the manly game as a Canberra try (Graham's :@). I lost money on the Eels (a win and 1-12), the Bulldogs (1-12) and the Sea Eagles/Raiders (Raiders Half Time Lead/Sea Eagles Full Time Lead Double). Tonga was at 11-1 and Graham at 13-1 by the way 8-)

i did the same thing though, had Gasnier as my captain at the start of the week but changed it to tonga a few days ago, after the first few minutes of the dogs game i thought tonga could have scored a bagful, but not to worry...

Seems like Gasnier and Tonga are in everyone's side. Also, was pretty upset that I selected Best then Brown didn't pick him :@

Best was never going to play.. He was out injured up till a week or 2 ago and didnt play any trials...

Yeah, but I was hoping he would get picked rather than being given time to get his fitness up in Premier League.

56 for the round. Thank God for Amos Roberts!

Annoyed I talked myself out of having Thurston in my squad. Went for Vagana @ 5/8th instead! Prob wouldn't have had him in my 17 anyway tho, which woulda been even more annoying. My first starting XVII was:

1. Billy Slater
2. Hazem El Masri (kicker)
3. Shaun Berrigan
4. Amos Roberts (captain)
5. Matt King
6. Darren Lockyer
7. Preston Campbell
8. John Morris
9. Lincoln Withers
10. Willie Mason
11. Reni Maitua
12. Jason Smith
13. Steve Menzies

14. Brett Stewart
15. Anthony Minichiello
16. Reece Simmonds
17. Brian Carney

Let me say I think the points system is far too simple. I reckon they could factor in stuff like tackles made, metres gained etc somehow.

Though sometimes simpler is better

Yeah that's why VNRL was good they gave forward tries and stuff. Read the first post...

Anyway I think I ended up with between 60 and 70 points so I'm fairly confident of beating anyone who I've come up against!

I agree, actually. 4/6 of my pack didn't play as forwards this week! Because the scoring system is so weighted towards tries guys like Jason Smith & John Morris are more likely to pick you up points than blokes like Ryles or Bailey.

I guess you just have to cut your cloth accordingly.

It didn't help that I didn't read the point scoring system beforehand :p

I picked Gallen, Bailey, Young etc thinking they would pick up heaps of points through their awesome stats.

First set of results are up. My reigning champions edge out BM's much-fancied PSV Eindhoven by just two points! Like I said, it's a marathon.... :p

A few of the big guns suffer first round reverses: along with broncoman, Blewy & Bugs also come second in their match-ups. Anthony's impressive 85 points earns him the early lead from Cloete's Roaring Crushers. Blaze occupies the early wooden-spoon position like his beloved Warriors, but at least he doesn't have their 4-point handicap to make up!
