Realistically i'd go for McLaren. He's done alright at boro considering (if you've ever been to smoggie land you'll know its damn hard to attract top players), as coach at utd he did very well (i'm mean look at us now we've got that useless portuguese fella!).

At international level its more about coaching than managing skills, ok sometimes you might have to deal with a prima donna at a big tournament, but on pure coaching skills McLaren is far and away the best there is.

Cant rule out Alladyce though, he does bring alot of technical skill to the job.... wouldnt bet against the two of them together really....
I'd think management skills would be more important at international level than at club level, not coaching.

Defenders getting injured and having a very small pool of quality players to choose from when the injuries happen, being midtable and having little to play for.

id prefer if Hiddink stayed on as PSV manager tbh...
Yeah and besides, the English are delusional about him managing their national team. I think he'll stay on with Australia to see if he can help us retain the cup in South Africa

So he can use injuries as an excuse then, but when it happens to Sven, it's poor management...

Langeveldt

Soutie
Lets hope whoever it is doesn't collect stamps or do some other god-forsaken thing that will get shredded by the nations media and hyped into a frenzy..

Ah, Pearce has the rare 5 rand specimen from Namibia

You'd think the record would wear out after a section has played itself over 40,000 times.

Well try being consistent then.

If it was poor management for Eriksson it is also poor management for Curbishley.

Of course the fact that one is a Swede and one English clouds your judgement.

For the umpteenth time:

England's squad with or without Rooney, with 1-0 lead >>>>>>>>> Portugal playing atrociously with a dodgy defense

Now in the case of Curbishley

Most squads in the Premiership > Charlton's squad after some key injuries

Now if Charlton was one of the richest, most attractive (from a players' point of view) clubs in the Premiership you could say it was bad management that there's not the depth there, but that isn't the case. With England there'll be far more depth there relative to a team like Charlton.

Now if you'd like to stop using arguments that have been shot down before (such as the Rooney injury) the debate might go somewhere.

You know, if you'd linked us to an article that wasn't dated yesterday, and didn't have "Hiddink interested in England job" at the bottom, that might have had some weight...
it was still today in my time :p

It's not been shot down though, vecause you're ignoring half of the Tournaments.

I suppose missing the likes of Gerrard, Neville and a fit Beckham were all bad management then?

Who kept playing an unfit Beckham?

I'm not interested in WC2002, although he was nothing special there either. Euro2004 was the time he showed he wasn't good enough and that was the time the vegetable should have resigned or been pushed.
