Well he was stumped while opening the batting from the bowling of Spofforth, a quick bowler, which is unusual - or could it be something to do with the fact that Spofforth had refused to play in the first Test because Murdoch wasn't selected as keeper, and although Spofforth and Murdoch played in the second Blackham retained the gauntlets?

Spofforth is the relevant bowling.

But now to find out why he was relevant and who the last person to have suffered the fate is etc etc..

Distinct lack of yes/no questions :(

I can't see how Spofforth fits in, but does the fact that Shaw was sent in as nightwatchman have anything to do with it?

The stumping of Shaw provided Spofforth with his maiden wicket in Test cricket. So, is the unique aspect that Shaw was the first batsman to gift a maiden wicket to a debutant bowler by way of a stumping?

I can't even recall the last bowler before Praveen to make his debut recently, let alone look for a stumping. :p

Hmm. Trying to think of spinners to have debuted lately, and I don't think Doherty or Beer got a stumping. Randiv?

You've got to tell me if it was ages ago or we'll be here a while :p

What I have in mind is that instead of running after search engines or trying to get the answer by hitting in the dark, we allow everyone to ask questions from the QM. The condition being that the questions are answerable in YES or NO or NOT APPLICABLE.

But Indian :)
