New Cricket Trivia - 'SJS format'

International Captain
The Don had been retired approximately 16 years when the first name appeared.

Clues coming thick and fast now.

No ... that was a big clue I gave you there. Think of something which happened in a Test match for the first time in 1964, and which has been repeated at increasingly regular intervals since.

No, the 24th (and last) occasion was in 2009. But when it first occurred, many good judges - including Richie Benaud - believed it was something they wouldn't see again.

No ... but I don't want to confuse you. The names I've given you are not the players who made the notable achievement. They were on the receiving end, so to speak.

So it's a bowling achievement?... Anything to do with number of wickets in an innings?

Nope because Laker's match was in 56.

Correct. :)

The name I wanted to avoid giving you was that of the late Neil Hawke, caught by Cowdrey off Trueman at the Oval in 1964.

The second 'victim' was Gary Gilmour, out to Gibbs at Perth in 1975-76.

Oddly, two names appear on both sides of the list, as both bowler and victim. Shaun Pollock was Muttiah Muralitharan's 300th wicket in 2000-01; six months earlier Murali had been Waqar Younis's 300th.

Took me a couple of hours to do the research on that one ... I quite enjoyed it though.

Tomorrow maybe, if nobody has come in with one before then.

Good question there Stumpski.

I'll ask the same question as before to Marcuss, performance related? If yes, in test cricket?
