both reached a career milestone?
I just realised I may have misled you by answering yes to this question. I assumed by career milestone you meant a milestone such as scoring a 50 or 100 or taking five wickets in an innings, etc. I think you might have considered a career milestone to be passing a certain number of runs, taking a certain number of wickets, etc. Just to clarify this achievement was performed in one innings, and as I've hinted, on debut.

In the late 1990s, together we achieved a feat for the first (and as far as I can tell, only) time. Who are we and what was our achievement?

1. Are we talking about two of you? YES
2. Is it to do with Test cricket? YES
3. Were the 2 players playing in the same team? YES
4. Are the 2 players related to each other? NO
5. Was it a batting achievement? YES
6. Does it involve batting in one innings of the match only? YES
7. A big partnership? NO
8. Is a runner involved? NO

Hint: The players did not bat together in this innings they achieved the feat in.

9. Connected to their mode of dismisal? NO
10. Both reached a career milestone? YES
11. Both scored over 220? NO
12. Were these batsmen playing for an Asian nation? YES
13. Did either or both sport moustaches? NO

Hint: It is only possible to achieve this feat once in a player's career.

14. Passing a certain number of career runs eg 7000? NO

Hint: The feat was achieved on debut.

15. Was the test in question played in England? NO

So centuries on debut then - he and Ali Naqvi against S Africa in 1997 - a right pair of under achievers it would seem - well Azhar certainly

Correct. :) It was the first time two batsmen had scored test centuries on debut in the same innings. Unless someone can provide evidence otherwise, it also seems to be the only time this has happened in test cricket.

I doubt its performance related but I'll ask anyway to confirm for us - has the link to do with cricketing performance?

Not absolutely sure how to answer that - the link relates to something that happened during a game but its not a record as such - so No is my answer

You want to give us a clue Fred?
If not and you think the people won't "bite" on this one, do you want me to step in with a new one?

Yes you have a go Mr Z - I seem unable to attract customers to this thread

The answer was (is) that all three have been out caught in a first class game in circumstances where the fielder has made the catch using his lower limbs

This is an achievement that used to be done quite often in England. It's only ever been done once outside England.

Who did this, and what was the achievement?
