SJS I have a few suggestions to make this thread more entertaining and encourage more forum members participation, other than us few the regulars.( I mean you SJS, Tapioca, Biased Indian, Sudeep, Deeps, Shankar, me etc.)

1. We run this questions (rapid fire type) at certain fixed time every day. So everyone who wants to participate wil be on line at the time !! The ideal time should be suitable for all online participants from across multiple time zones.( I suggest this time be 2 hours earlier than the time of this post. But if you think otherwise please suggest an alternate time. )

2. We award the winner every night the title of Cricket Web Trivia King :king: for the day. This may encourage greater interest in the thread and greater participation of other forum members on line .( Frankly I am disappointed with the lack of participation by other forum members on this thread. There are some who visit the thread during these quizzes but they never ask questions or come up with answers or even guesses, but rather happy to observe. Hence we need to do some thing to get greater involvement of other forum members).

3. We the regulars(SJS, Tapioca, Biased Indian, Sudeep, Deeps, Shankar, me) while asking questions during a quiz(until the 20 questions are up), avoid answering until the visitors make 3-4 attempts to get the answer (and be encouraged to do so) before we come up with an answer. (I feel we need to do this, so that more visitors and online forum members will get interested in getting to know of this quiz and participating in it)

What do you think ? I am also interested in the opinions of Tapioca, Biased Indian, Sudeep, Deeps and Shankar.

How do u think this idea will bring in new participants?
Just some thoughts and suggestions to try and lure others to this thread !! Otherwise this thread will also get boring if we don't do something seriously to increase participation.

If you have any other suggestions we can consider them .

TIME FACTOR : I think the most important suggestion here is regarding time (different time zones) Your first suggestion is good. Maybe two separate periods will be required otherwise we might just cut out one large chunk of partcipants altogether.

HOGGING BY VETERANS : This is also a valid pint but I think the maximum participation from an individual comes when he is the one who has asked the question. Those answering are at liberty to come and go but one who asks has a (sort of) obligation to stay put and answer the queries. I think it is here that we might be hogging the 'space' By being the ones who get the answers, we are , automatically, getting the right to ask the next question. If there was another way to decide who would ASK the next question, we may be able to increase participation and have prolonged interest. Think about that.

No Brycey boy. Read it more carefully !! It's all there !! :laugh:

Captain Charles Burgess Fry, who died at his home at Hampstead, London, on September 7, 1956, aged 84, was probably the greatest allrounder of his or any generation. He was a brilliant scholar and an accomplished performer in almost every branch of outdoor sport. Fry was the perfect amateur; he played games because he loved them and never for personal gain. He captained England in Test Matches, and the Mother Country never lost under his captaincy. He played Association Football for England against Ireland in 1901; he was at full-back for Southampton in the FA Cup Final of 1902;

In his career as a cricketer, he scored some 30,000 runs, averaging 50, in an era of natural wickets, mainly against bowlers of great speed or of varied and subtle spin and accuracy.
