The story so far

Something happened at the Final Test between England and Pakistan that had not happened in a Test in England since 1977. What was it?

(The answer is nothing whatsoever to do with ball tampering.)

Q1) Winning after being 331 runs down on first innings? NO
Q2) Is it England winning 3 test matches in a row to complete a 3-0 series victory? NO
Q3) Is it team-related? NO
Q4) Result-related? NO
Q5) Is the something that happened something to be proud of? NO
Q6) Batting-related? NO
Q7) Bowling related? NO
Q8) Fielding related? NO
Q9) Player related? Well everything is player related in a way, but if answering Yes or No I would have to say NO.
Q10)Is it date related? NO

Clue: Instead of thinking in terms of what happened, look at it from the point of view of what didn't happen.

Q11)Was it the 5th Test of 1977? YES - But as a little extra clue, don't waste time looking too closely at that match.
Q12) Is it to do with breaks? NO
Q13) The No. of Tests? NO
Q14) Is it something to do with the days? NO
Q15) Is it to do with the game not starting because something had been vandalised? NO

As an extra clue I will offer the names of Chris Old and Younis Khan.

Q16) A shot in the dark, but does it have anything to do with Woolmer? NO
Q17) Can the answer to this be seen in the score cards of the two games ? Not really from the stats - but if you study those scorecards on Cric Info or a similar source there is a difference to all the Tests played in England in between.

We've also established that Chris Old didn't play in Final Test of 1977 and that Turbinator doesn't get it.:)

Chris Old was a separate clue, he is nothing to do with the 5th Test of 1977.

5th test in 1977 was the last completed test with no MoM ?

Chris Old was MoM in the 1st test in 1978
Younis Khan was MoM in the 3rd test vs Pakistan 2006

Ding ding bells whistles etc.

The original question was Something happened at the Final Test between England and Pakistan that had not happened in a Test in England since 1977. What was it?

What happened was that there was no Man of the Match Award given.

The first clue was Instead of thinking in terms of what happened, look at it from the point of view of what didn't happen.

Fairly self explanatory clue.

The second clue was As an extra clue I will offer the names of Chris Old and Younis Khan.

Chris Old was Man of the Match in the First Test of 1978 when the award was first introduced for Test Matches in England. From then up to and including the 3rd Test of 2006 when Younis Khan was the winner there was always a Man of the Match Award given.

Some people may think that is overly complicated but I prefer questions of this sort rather than something than can just be Googled.

I have no question I can think of so if anyone has an idea, I give my turn

I'm not going to be around for a few days so I don't want this to revert back to me, so any random person can throw a question in if you want to keep the quiz going.

Yep, good question!

Anyway, need something to do while waiting for Symonds to get himself out...

Len Hutton and Graham Gooch did this in England.
Andy Flower has done it in Harare.
Sanath Jayasuriya has done it in Colombo.
Brian Lara has done it in Antigua.
And Don Bradman has done it in Melbourne.

These are the only six to have done this. What?
