I would have said Gibbs but both the West Indian Gibbs' do not satisfy one of the conditions :@

You are pretty much there. For some reason the reference books do not consider Gomes as the last white player, though his skin is white. He is Portugeuse on one side. His other parent might be a native, I don't know.

So if we exclude Gomes, the next person will be the answer to the question.

-> All the three played in the 1970s and all of them were openers.

-> The answer to 'did I play one day cricket ?' was not a straight yes because I played some test cricket after 1971, but it ended before WI played its first one day.

-> I was the first of the three, the second one started his career in 1974/5 and the third during the Packer years
