By deduction: it's a player from Sri Lanka, who played in the '96 victory, did well, and is now retired.

The player is Aravinda de Silva.

The record is...that he has the highest final Test innings of any retired player? (that being 206 vs. WI)

Correct ! It is Aravinda De Silva. I will give it to you !!

The record I had in mind was, only player to score an unbeaten century in each innings of A test !!


But I think you deserve it !! (Apologies for the slow progress of this question !! Away for a few days !! :) :) )
